On July 10, 1988, Luis Paredes and Eloy Robles, leaders of the Jocos Cooperative in Cachachi, were executed by the PCP-SL. Luis Paredes had assumed leadership of the cooperative in July 1987, apparently following directives from the PCP-SL, and proceeded to parcel out the land, including as beneficiaries employees, former leaders and their children who lived in the city of Cajabamba and elsewhere. A year after taking office, both Paredes and Eloy Robles (former leader) were assassinated by the PCP-SL. These executions sealed the definitive dissolution of the cooperative company.
