Third attack on Radio Onda Azul
Third attack against the facilities of Radio Onda Azul in Puno, presumably perpetrated by the Shining Path PCP. This was the last of three consecutive attacks against the station over a two-year period.
Radio Onda Azul was attacked on two previous occasions, on August 3, 1986 and July 3, 1988, before suffering a third attack on July 5, 1988. The report mentions that it is presumed that it was Shining Path PCP militants who attacked the station's facilities on these three occasions. In January 1990, Radio Onda Azul was also the target of attacks by a paramilitary group, although in that case the targets were opponents of Alan Garcia's regime and not necessarily related to subversive activities.
