Second attack on Radio Onda Azul

Radio Onda Azul in Puno was attacked on July 3 and 5, 1988, allegedly by the Shining Path PCP. This was the second attack against the station, after a previous one in August 1986.

Radio Onda Azul in Puno was attacked twice by alleged members of the Shining Path PCP. The first attack occurred on August 3, 1986, and later the station was attacked again on July 3 and 5, 1988. These attacks were part of a broader campaign of violence against the media and opponents of the regime. In the context of Puno during 1989, paramilitary attacks were also registered against various institutions, including the Federation of Peasants, the NGO TECIRA, Radio Onda Azul and the homes of former Izquierda Unida deputies.
