Detention of priest and CEAS workers in Ayacucho
Priest, CEAS workers and human rights defenders detained in Ayacucho; released after negotiations.
In Ayacucho, the priest Carlos Gallagher, Pilar Coll (executive secretary of the National Human Rights Coordinating Committee), two social workers from CEAS, Reiner Uhle (German) from SERPAJ and Guadalupe Callcunto (vice-president of the Association of Relatives detained in the emergency zone) were detained under accusation of being terrorists. After efforts by CEAS and several personalities, the Lima detainees were immediately released, and a few days later the leader from Ayacucho.
