Installation of the Interministerial Anti-Subversive Coordinating Commission
The Interministerial Coordinating Commission for the Fight against Subversion was set up in June 1988, made up of the ministers of Defense (López Albújar), Interior (Soria) and Justice (Carrillo). This measure is part of the hardening of the aprista government's anti-subversive policy.
The Interministerial Coordinating Commission for the Fight against Subversion was installed as part of the strategy of the APRA government to fight subversion. The commission was integrated by three key cabinet ministers: the Minister of Defense, General EP Enrique López Albújar Trint; the Minister of the Interior, Agustín Soria; and the Minister of Justice, Carrillo. This installation took place in a context of intensifying political violence, particularly after the Cayara massacre in May 1988. Prime Minister Armando Villanueva del Campo had previously announced in May the government's decision to make the fight against terrorism more severe and energetic.
