Arrest and execution of three Erusco villagers
Military detained and executed three villagers from Erusco; bodies were disappeared.
Law enforcement forces arrested Samuel García, Alejandro Echeccaya García and Jovita García Suárez, whose names appeared on a 'black list' of alleged subversives. For three days they remained locked up in the premises of the Erusco School. On May 20 they were taken to the upper part of the community, to the Pucutuccasa hill, where they were executed. Jovita García had been arrested for complaining to the military about the mistreatment of the villagers. Her body was later found and taken to the Cangallo Health Post, but mysteriously disappeared.
