Detention and torture of Mrs. Muñoz de Yangali at Castro Pampa military base

Mrs. Muñoz de Yangali was detained in her home by soldiers in civilian clothes. She was tortured at the Castro Pampa military base, where she was hung from a beam with her hands tied behind her back and given electric shocks. Her interrogators accused her of collaborating with Sendero Luminoso by distributing mail. She was then taken in an army truck, her head was covered, she was forced to kneel and shot three times: twice in the head and once in the chest. Sonia Muñoz survived by holding her breath until the soldiers left her for dead.
