PCP-SL attack on military convoy in Erusco
PCP-SL ambushed military convoy in Erusco causing the death of four military personnel and 15 wounded.
A PCP-SL column attacked a military convoy of the 'Mosca' Patrol belonging to the Counter-Subversive Base No 34 of Pampa Cangallo when it was returning from Huancasanccos. As a result, Infantry Captain José Arbulú Sime, Second Sergeant Ángel Vargas Tamara, Corporal Fabián Roldán Ortiz and Corporal Carlos Espinoza de la Cruz lost their lives. In addition, 15 troops were seriously wounded and 10 FAL rifles and a machine gun were lost. This attack triggered the Operational Plan 'Persecution' which resulted in serious human rights violations.
