Incursion in SAIS Picotani

Attack by the PCP-SL on the SAIS Picotani in Crucero, Sandia, resulting in the death of six policemen and the justice of the peace, with subsequent detention and torture of a peasant leader accused of the attack.

On May 5, 1988, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso raided the SAIS Picotani located in Crucero, Sandia province. During the attack, the Shining Path guerrillas destroyed the facilities of the associative enterprise. The attack resulted in the murder of six police officers and the local justice of the peace. Subsequently, teacher and peasant leader Porfirio Suni Quispe was arrested and tortured by members of the UTA, accused of being linked to the attack in Crucero.
