Attacks on Human Rights Organizations in Peru
In February 1990, the offices of the Committee and the Andean Commission of Jurists were targeted in dynamite attacks. A similar attack had occurred weeks earlier against the Peruvian headquarters of Amnesty International. These events highlight the violent climate in Peru during this period, particularly against organizations advocating for human rights.
En febrero de 1990, las oficinas del Comité fueron blanco de un ataque dinamitero. Simultáneamente, se efectuó un ataque contra la Comisión Andina de Juristas. Pocas semanas antes, se había realizado un ataque similar contra la sede peruana de Amnistía Internacional. Estos ataques buscaban obstaculizar la labor de defensa de derechos humanos que realizaban estas organizaciones durante el conflicto armado interno.
