On April 15, the First National Plenary of the Non-Partisan Socialists of the IU was inaugurated. Most of the participants were linked to Alfonso Barrantes Lingán. This event took place in the context of internal tensions within Izquierda Unida and represented a space of articulation for socialist sectors not organized in specific parties. The plenary evidenced the political divisions within IU, with a clear link of the attendees to the leadership of Barrantes Lingán.
