Destruction of SAIS Cahuide

The SAIS Cahuide was destroyed by Sendero Luminoso between March 1988 and January 1989, and was definitively deactivated.

SAIS Cahuide, located in the upper Mantaro Valley and considered the most important agricultural enterprise created by the Agrarian Reform in the region, suffered continuous Shining Path attacks between March 1988 and January 1989. Shining Path sought to prevent this company from articulating the peasant communities within a market logic. Its deactivation came to an end in January 1989 due to economic difficulties and lack of police support.
