Ambush in Lachocc
PCP-Sendero Luminoso ambush in Lachocc, Acobambilla, which resulted in the death of nine military personnel and two civilians on February 18, 1988, as part of the subversive offensive to regain military initiative in Huancavelica.
On February 18, 1988, militants of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso carried out an ambush in the town of Lachocc, district of Acobambilla, province of Huancavelica. Nine soldiers and two civilians lost their lives in this attack. This action was part of the PCP-SL offensive in 1988, when the subversive organization had managed to recompose and reorganize its forces, recovering the military initiative in the last phase of the so-called 'Great Plan to Develop Support Bases'. The ambush was one of the most important actions that demonstrated the operational capacity recovered by the PCP-SL in the area.
