I Session of the First Congress of the PCP-SL

First session of the First Congress of the PCP-SL held between February and March 1988. This event marked a key organizational moment for the Shining Path in the midst of its campaign of political violence.

The first session of the First Congress of the Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path (PCP-SL) was held between February and March 1988. This event represented an important organizational milestone for the subversive organization. Subsequently, in July-August 1988 the second session of the same congress was held, and in June 1989 the third session took place where the concept of "strategic balance" was approved. The congress took place in a context of intensification of the violent actions of the PCP-SL and the growing presence of its members in social demonstrations in the streets of Lima.
