MRTA cadres return to their lands
Between February and March 1988, MRTA cadres who had participated in the first military campaign in San Martin returned to their departments of origin to form their own guerrilla fronts. This return was part of the MRTA's strategy of territorial expansion after the experience of the Northeastern Front.
After the first MRTA military campaign in San Martin, the recruited MRTA cadres returned, between February and March 1988, to their lands to form their Guerrilla Fronts. This return was part of MRTA's strategy to expand its territorial presence after the experience in the Northeastern Front. The cadres who had been stationed in the department of San Martin in 1987 returned to their departments of origin with the objective of replicating the model of the first Guerrilla Front. Taking advantage of the political and recruitment work carried out by the MIR-EM in previous years allowed the MRTA to settle more easily in urban areas but not so much in the countryside.
