National strike called by CGTP and CTP
National strike called jointly by the CGTP and the CTP on January 28, 1988, which was not fully observed in Lima and during which there was a confrontation between militants of the PCP-SL and demonstrators of the CGTP and IU in Plaza 2 de Mayo.
The CGTP (left) and the CTP (aprista) held a joint meeting and called a national strike for January 28, 1988. The strike was not fully observed in Lima. During the national strike rally in Plaza 2 de Mayo, a confrontation took place between PCP-SL militants and CGTP and IU demonstrators. This strike was part of the protests and social mobilizations that characterized the period of political and economic crisis of the APRA government.
