Separation and disappearance of detainees in Huayquipa

Military separated 13 detainees in Huayquipa; four were disappeared and eight allegedly executed.

The military patrol left Sallalli carrying 13 detainees (7 men, 5 women and a girl). Arriving in Huayquipa at dusk, they divided the detainees into two groups. The first group (Manuel Niño de Guzmán Ayvar, Magdalena Bazán Huamaní, Juan Pablo Carbajal Hurtado and María Zavala Cayllahua) were taken to the Santa Rosa Military Base and have been missing ever since. The second group (Matilde Niño de Guzmán Ayvar with her baby Luisa, Rosa Niño de Guzmán, Rosa Velásquez Marca, Celio Carbajal Ayvar, Juan Esperanza Ayvar, Basilio Carbajal Chirhuana and Fermín Gonzales Arbieto) were killed near the tunnel in front of Huayquipa, according to the testimony of a survivor who heard screams and sounds of execution.
