Detentions, torture and rapes in Sallalli
Military disguised as terrorists tortured men and raped women in Sallalli during an operation.
The military patrol arrived in Sallalli disguised as terrorists with hammer and sickle symbols to confuse the population. They arrested Fermín Gonzales Arbieto (48 years old) and Celio Carbajal Ayvar (28 years old) on the road. At night they arrived at Manuel Niño de Guzmán's cabin where they found Matilde Niño de Guzmán (24 years old) with her daughter Luisa (6 months old), Rosa Niño de Guzmán (15 years old) and Rosa Velásquez Marca (24 years old). The men were locked in a stable and cruelly tortured, while the women were raped. When Manuel Niño de Guzmán arrived and rejected the accusations, he was tortured and burned with hot iron on his face.
