Congressman Sanchez Albavera denounces handling of BCR reserves
IU congressman Fernando Sánchez Albavera denounced that the BCR handed over the management of international reserves to the Swiss company Sogest. The denouncement was made during an extraordinary legislature that evaluated economic issues of the government.
On January 9, 1988, the Izquierda Unida (IU) deputy Fernando Sanchez Albavera made a public denunciation about the management of the international reserves of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR). According to the denunciation, the BCR had handed over the management of international reserves to the Swiss company Sogest. This complaint took place in the context of an extraordinary legislature convened to evaluate the law for the nationalization of the banking system and the regionalization of the country. The fact evidenced concerns about the economic management of the APRA government of Alan Garcia Perez during a period of growing economic crisis.
