MRTA tours native communities in Ucayali
In 1988, the MRTA toured native communities in Ucayali including Colonia del Caco, Curiaca, Santa Rosa de Sheshea and Nueva Alianza de Sheshea, asking the natives to organize as part of its expansion strategy.
Beginning in 1988, the MRTA made incursions into various native communities in Ucayali as part of its territorial expansion strategy. The Ejército del Terreno (ET) of the Eastern Front went through communities such as Colonia del Caco, Curiaca, Santa Rosa de Sheshea and Nueva Alianza de Sheshea. In these incursions, MRTA members would arrive in the communities and ask the natives to organize, seeking to gain support and establish a presence in the area. However, the document does not record that these incursions were very successful in terms of gaining or controlling territory in the native communities.
