Commander Roberto leads the Northeastern Front (FNO) of MRTA
Comandante Roberto led the Northeastern Front (FNO) of the MRTA in San Martin between 1988 and 1990, being the second commander of this guerrilla front. He coordinated political actions together with other FNO leaders in the agricultural and coca production areas of the department.
Comandante Roberto assumed the leadership of the Northeastern Front (FNO) of the MRTA in San Martin during the period 1988-1990. As military commander of the FNO, together with the political chief, the press chief and the logistics chief, he was in charge of coordinating the political actions of the front. His leadership took place in a context where the MRTA maintained a presence in the areas of major rice, corn and coca production in the department of San Martin. The FNO had been formally established in 1987 and Roberto was the second commander to lead this guerrilla front.
