In 1988, an Army counter-subversive base was installed in the district of Santa Ana de Tusi, province of Daniel Alcides Carrión, department of Pasco. This military installation was part of the Peruvian State's counter-subversive strategy to combat the presence of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in the region. The presence of this military base significantly reduced PCP-SL incursions in the area and allowed local authorities to carry out their duties and functions with greater security. The Tusi base was one of several counter-subversive bases established in the province of Daniel Alcides Carrión, along with others in Goyllarisquizga, Páucar, Simón Bolívar, Yanahuanca, Michivilca and Chinche Tingo.
