PCP-SL settles in Canipaco valley

The PCP-SL has been established in the Canipaco valley since mid 1988, organizing popular committees and convulsing the communities of Alto and Bajo Tulumayo, as well as San Juan de Jarpa and San José de Quero.

Since the second semester of 1987, the PCP-SL organizes popular committees in the territory of many communities of Junín, settling in the Canipaco valley since mid 1988. The communities of Alto and Bajo Tulumayo are convulsed by the action of the PCP-SL columns, as well as the communities of San Juan de Jarpa and San José de Quero (Alto Cunas). The PCP-SL forced the local authorities to resign, the same ones that in some places would continue to function in the most absolute clandestinity. The systematic attacks against the Laive Unit of the SAIS Cahuide increased at the end of 1987, when a Shining Path group destroyed the furniture and slaughtered an undetermined number of cattle.
