Murder of civilian guard in Huancayo

A civilian guard was killed by subversives in the city of Huancayo on December 31, 1987, as part of the PCP-SL's campaign of "selective annihilations" against the forces of law and order.

On the last day of 1987, a subversive group assassinated a civilian guard in the city of Huancayo. This murder took place in the context of an escalation of violence in the Mantaro valley, where the PCP-SL intensified its actions of 'selective annihilation' against members of the forces of law and order. The event occurred just three days after the assassination of another policeman on December 3 of the same year. This type of selective assassination was part of the Shining Path's strategy of systematically attacking representatives of the State in the region.
