Murder in Lachocc

A local woman was murdered by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in Lachocc, Acobambilla, accused of being an informant for the police. The crime was part of the selective executions against alleged "informers" in the area.

On November 11, 1987, in the community of Lachocc in the district of Acobambilla, province of Huancavelica, a local woman was murdered by militants of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. The victim was accused of being a "snitch" or informer for the police. This murder took place in the context of a series of selective executions that the PCP-SL carried out against people they considered to be collaborators of the State or the military forces. The attack was part of the Shining Path strategy of eliminating those who opposed their cause or provided information to the authorities.
