PCP-SL raid in Putaqasa

On September 14, 1987, the PCP-SL attacked Putaqasa in Sacsamarca, killing nine community members and burning houses. This was the first of several attacks against this community that lasted until 1990.

On September 14, 1987, the PCP-SL raided Putaqasa, part of the Sacsamarca district, killing nine community members and burning houses. This attack was part of the PCP-SL's retaliatory actions against communities that had formed or supported Self-Defense Committees. Putaqasa was attacked again on February 10, 1989, when the PCP-SL raided again, killing two more community members. The community, which had been razed in 1987, suffered new attacks in September 1989 and February 1990, leaving an additional nine and two community members murdered, in addition to the burning of houses and premises.
