Attack on police premises in Chilca

Attack with high explosives against the police premises of the Chilca District Council in Huancayo, carried out by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso, causing considerable damage.

On September 10, 1987, a police station located in the Chilca District Council, in the heart of the city of Huancayo, was attacked with high explosives by militants of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. The attack caused extensive damage to the police facilities. This attack took place in the context of a wave of dynamite attacks that the PCP-SL carried out against various public and private premises in the city of Huancayo during 1987. The attack was part of the Shining Path's strategy of attacking state institutions and creating a climate of terror in the region.
