Murders in Santa Barbara
On August 7, 1987, ten residents of the Santa Barbara community were killed by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso, accused of being informants for the security forces. This was one of the many attacks suffered by this community during the internal armed conflict.
On August 7, 1987, in the community of Santa Barbara, district and province of Huancavelica, ten villagers were murdered by militants of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. The victims were accused of being "snitches" or informants for the police. This event took place during the period of withdrawal and new subversive offensive (1986-1995) in the province of Huancavelica. The community of Santa Bárbara was particularly punished during the internal armed conflict, suffering another incursion in 1991, this time by a military patrol that kidnapped and dynamited a group of community members.
