First Unitary Congress FNTMMSP

First Unitary Congress of the FNTMMSP held in August 1987, which consolidated the unification of the Peruvian mining union movement and subsequently allowed the presentation of the first national list of demands of the sector in May 1988.

The National Federation of Mining, Metallurgical and Iron and Steel Workers of Peru (FNTMMSP) held its First Unitary Congress in August 1987, as part of a process of centralization and unification of the mining union movement. This congress was an important milestone that allowed the federation to subsequently present, on May 18, 1988, the first national list of demands in the history of Peruvian mining unionism. The congress was held in a context of union division, following the creation of the FETIMMAP by APRA leaders in 1985, and sought to consolidate the unity of the mining workers in the face of the State and the employers. This event was crucial to strengthen the collective bargaining capacity of the mining sector at the national level.
