Multiple attacks in Huancayo

On July 3, 1987, PCP-SL militants carried out a series of coordinated attacks against multiple targets in the city of Huancayo and the district of El Tambo. Targets included the facilities of the Banco Industrial, Banco de Los Andes, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Transportation in Huancayo. During these attacks, a policeman was killed in the district of El Tambo. This wave of attacks was part of the escalation of violence that the PCP-SL developed in the Mantaro valley during 1987, a year in which selective assassinations and attacks against public and private infrastructure intensified.
