Violent situation in Abancay, PCP-SL controls highways and attacks villages
Between July and August 1987, the province of Abancay went through a violent period. The PCP-SL fought for control of highways and bridges, resulting in several attacks on towns and peasant communities. During the rest of the year, violence extended to the provinces of Grau and Cotabambas.
