Proposal for the nationalization of the banking system

In his message to the country and before Congress on the occasion of the national anniversary, President Alan García Pérez proposed nationalizing the banking system. This proposal generated great political controversy and mobilizations both for and against it. In August, the president insisted on his project to nationalize the banks during a rally called by the PAP. After 23 hours of debate, the Chamber of Deputies approved the bank nationalization bill.
