Takeover of Aguaytía by the PCP-SL

In June 1987, the PCP-SL took the city of Aguaytía, capital of the province of Padre Abad in Ucayali, burning the municipal building, the Agrarian Bank's archives and affecting the premises of the Subprefecture and the Peace Court.

The capital of the province of Padre Abad, Aguaytia, was taken over by the Shining Path PCP in one of its first acts in the Ucayali region in June 1987. During the raid, the municipal building was burned with all its belongings, as well as the Agrarian Bank's archives and a dump truck. The offices of the Subprefecture and the Justice of the Peace were also affected. The following year, in 1988, there was another attack by the Shining Path PCP, this time directed specifically against the local police post.
