Felix Ortega, president of the Junin Development Corporation, was assassinated by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso on May 8, 1987 in Huancayo, as part of the "selective annihilations" against public officials.

Félix Ortega, who was president of the Junín Development Corporation, was assassinated on May 8, 1987 in the city of Huancayo. His death was part of a series of "selective annihilations" carried out by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso against public officials and members of the forces of law and order in the region. This assassination occurred in the context of an escalation of violence that intensified since 1987 in the Mantaro valley. Shortly after, on March 6, Juan Berrospi, president of Cooperación Popular, was also assassinated in the same city.
