PCP-SL attacks on police posts and communities in Canas

On January 30, 1987, the PCP-SL carried out multiple attacks against police posts and communities in the province of Canas, as part of a wider offensive. This action was part of a series of attacks that extended between February and June 1987, when the PCP-SL prioritized attacks on police posts in the region. The attacks in Canas were followed in the following days by similar actions in the provinces of Acomayo and Chumbivilcas. These attacks were part of the PCP-SL's strategy to combat cattle rustling in order to gain peasant support in the high provinces of Cuzco.
