The PCP-SL executed seven workers in the Plaza de Armas of Paraíso. According to some versions, the victims were part of a group of eleven Machi workers that PCP-SL personnel saw talking on the radio with their boss and mistakenly thought they were communicating with the army. The Shining Path members killed seven people in the Plaza de Armas, pardoning the remaining four on the condition that they join the ranks of their movement. This event occurred in the context of the territorial control exercised by the PCP-SL in the Alto Huallaga area during 1987.
