PCP-SL break-ins in the Upper Zone of Canipaco

In the last months of 1987, the PCP-SL carried out multiple raids on small and remote ranches in the High Zone of Canipaco, Alto Cunas and Alturas de Yauyos, in addition to raiding small mines to obtain dynamite and explosives. These incursions marked the increase in Shining Path presence and violence in the region.

During the last months of 1987, the PCP-SL broke into small and remote ranches located in the High Zone of Canipaco, Alto Cunas and the heights of Yauyos (Lima) more than once. There were also frequent assaults on small mines in the heights of Chupaca and on the borders of Huancayo and Yauyos, where Sendero used to stock up on dynamite and explosives for their attacks. These incursions marked the beginning of a more constant and intense presence of the PCP-SL in the region, differing from previous appearances in 1983. From that year until 1989, PCP-SL appearances became more and more constant, intensifying the violence of their actions.
