Systematic attacks by PCP-SL on SAIS Cahuide

In 1987, the PCP-SL intensified its systematic attacks against SAIS Cahuide in Junín, targeting its infrastructure and employees. The subversive group took advantage of the internal contradictions of the agrarian company to gain allies and carry out looting and forced recruitment in the villages.

From 1987 onwards, systematic attacks by the PCP-SL against the infrastructure and officials of SAIS Cahuide increased. These attacks were part of a second stage of violence, after an initial breakthrough between 1983 and 1984. The PCP-SL took advantage of internal SAIS conflicts, including contradictions between partner and non-partner communities, as well as boundary disputes, to enter the communities and gain allies. In the last months of 1987, the smaller and more remote hamlets located southeast of the plateau began to be victims of looting of food, horses and forced recruitment.
