Municipal elections in Puno with an APRA victory
APRA electoral victory in Puno municipal elections with 53% of the vote
Municipal elections were held in Puno. The PAP obtained 53% of the departmental vote, the highest vote obtained by the APRA in Puno in its entire electoral history. The party absorbed the AP and FNTC votes, obtaining a majority in 7 of the 10 highland provinces and massive control of the municipal level at the departmental level. Luis Dueñas won the provincial mayoralty of the Altiplano capital. The left suffered a significant defeat, losing votes especially in the more urban provinces.
