The Joint Command of the Armed Forces issued communiqué 74 CCFFAA/RRPP in response to an incident that occurred on Oct. 8 in Pujas, Vilcashuamán, during the town's patron saint festival. In the official communiqué, the Armed Forces stated that the subversives were killed during a confrontation. This statement came after it was reported that a Peruvian Army helicopter had killed 32 people during the patronal feast. The day after the communiqué, the Joint Command informed about upcoming military actions in the emergency zone.
