Attacks against Radio Onda Azul

On August 3, 1986, the antenna of Radio Onda Azul in Puno was blown up with two dynamite charges. This attack was attributed to paramilitary groups due to the pro-communist position of the radio station of the Diocese of Puno.

Radio Onda Azul, created in 1958 and owned by the Diocese of Puno, suffered an attack on August 3, 1986 when its antenna was blown up with two dynamite charges. The radio station was actively contributing to the generation of citizen awareness in the face of violence. For many, the radio station's discourse was left-leaning and the Sur Andina Church did not hide its sympathy for the local Marxist left. Because of this pro-communist position, Onda Azul's facilities suffered attacks that were attributed to paramilitary groups, including this one on August 3, 1986 and others on July 3 and 5, 1988.
