Conviction for the Socos massacre

Eleven police officers convicted of Socos massacre sentenced to 10 to 25 years in jail

The First Mixed Chamber of the Correctional Court of Ayacucho sentenced eleven members of the Civil Guard for the murder of 32 inhabitants of Socos. The sentences ranged from 10 to 25 years in prison. The police officers were found to have executed the peasants, tampered with evidence and persecuted witnesses. The sentence also imposed civil reparations of 120,000 intis and accessory penalties of disqualification.
