Resignation of the ministerial cabinet

On July 14, 1986, the Peruvian cabinet resigned as a whole following political pressures generated by the serious events that occurred in the Lima and Callao prisons in June of that year. The resignation took place despite the initial support of President Alan García Pérez.

The ministerial cabinet as a whole resigned on July 14, 1986, after the serious events that took place in the prisons of Lima and Callao in June of the same year. The National Directive Committee of the IU had proposed the resignation of the cabinet considering the political responsibility for the serious events in the prisons. Despite the pressures for the resignation of the ministerial cabinet due to the events in the prisons, initially President Alan Garcia Perez gave his support. However, finally on July 14, the cabinet as a whole resigned.
