During her testimony, the affiant used indirect terms such as 'my condition as a woman' or 'my dignity' to refer to the rape she suffered during her detention. This case exemplifies how many victims did not explicitly mention rape out of shame and social stigma. The CVR report notes that in many cases women used euphemisms to refer to these acts of sexual violence.
