Shining Path attack on Vinchos mining center

Shining Path attacked the Vinchos mining center in Cerro de Pasco, killing three senior officials (manager, assistant manager and superintendent) and dynamiting the concentrator plant.

In July 1986, a Shining Path column commanded by comrades "Nelly" and "Hernan" entered the Vinchos mining center in Cerro de Pasco. The Shining Path members shot and killed the mine manager, assistant manager and superintendent. Subsequently, they dynamited the mining center's concentrator plant. This attack was part of the PCP-SL's strategy of attacking mining infrastructure and eliminating management personnel in central Peru during the most bloody period of violence in the mining sector between 1986 and 1989.
