Mass graves in Ayahuanco

In July 1986, mass graves were discovered in Ayahuanco. This discovery occurred in the context of the intensification of the internal armed conflict in the Ayacucho region. The discovery of these mass graves is evidence of the magnitude of the violence that affected the area during the period of the conflict. Ayahuanco was the scene of multiple acts of violence by both law enforcement and the PCP-Sendero Luminoso.
