Murder of twenty peasants in La Convención

Twenty peasants were murdered in the province of La Convención, Cuzco, between June 22 and 28, 1986, during a period of intense political violence in the country. This event occurred simultaneously with other violent acts in different regions of Peru.

During a period of intense political violence that coincided with prison riots in Lima and Callao, twenty peasants were murdered in the province of La Convención, Cuzco. This event occurred between June 22 and 28, 1986, in the context of an escalation of subversive violence in the country. The event took place on the same days that five engineers were also murdered in Minas Canaria, province of Victor Fajardo, and there was an attack against a train carriage to Machu Picchu that left eight passengers dead and forty wounded. These events were part of a wave of violence that also included attacks against bank agencies and PAP offices in Lima.
