Murder of five engineers in Minas Canaria

Five engineers were murdered in Minas Canaria, Víctor Fajardo province, on June 22, 1986. This fact adds to the violence that affected this mining area during the internal armed conflict.

On June 22, 1986, five engineers were murdered in Minas Canaria, in the province of Victor Fajardo. This event occurred in a context of generalized violence in the area, where the Canarias mine had played an important role as a supplier of dynamite for the subversives. Previously, in July 1982, there had already been murders of miners in Canarias, accused of being informers by the PCP-SL. The Víctor Fajardo area was one of the most affected by the internal armed conflict during this period.
