XVIII Conference of Socialist International Women

International Conference of the Socialist International Women held in Lima on June 16, 1986, days before the tragic events in the capital's prisons.

On June 16, 1986, the XVIII Conference of the Socialist International Women began in Lima. This international event took place in a context of high political and social tension in Peru, just two days before the riot in the prisons of Lima and Callao (June 18). The conference took place during the government of Alan García Pérez and coincided temporally with other significant political events, including a meeting of the president with the Joint Command of the Armed Forces that same day.
