PCP-SL Offensive in Puno

In May 1986, the PCP-SL launched an offensive in Puno that included attacks against PAP authorities and the burning of farms belonging to the SAIS San José and Illari in Ayaviri and Azángaro.

In May 1986, the PCP-SL began an offensive in the department of Puno that started on May 5 with an attack against the Secretary General of the PAP in Ayaviri. During this offensive, the subversive group burned the Cayacayani farm, belonging to SAIS San José, and also set fire to the Charquismo and San Luis farms of SAIS Illari in Azángaro. This campaign was part of the PCP-SL's strategy of attacking the associative companies that emerged from the Agrarian Reform and the authorities of the governing party.
